Cansco are proud to be the shirt sponsors of Aberdeen Football Club's Elite Youth Development Programme.
The programme runs centres of excellence, staffed by fully qualified and licensed coaches, at Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Hamilton, Kilwinning, Elgin and Banff. The purpose of the programme is to eventually provide 50% of the first team playing squad of Aberdeen Football Club in line with current thinking in the game.
The programme's objectives are to attract young football players of quality, build an affiliation with the youngsters and their parents, provide them with properly structured coaching on a regular basis, and encourage their development in a non-competitive environment.
Cansco recently further underlined our commitment to supporting AFC’s work in this domain by donating at a 16 seat mini-bus for the club’s exclusive use.
Cansco's CEO Mr Mike Loggie is a member of Aberdeen Football Club's Elite Youth Development Board. |

Cansco are the main sponsor of Scottish Rally Championship
contender Fraser Louden. Cansco supported Fraser and his crew
for the 2006 season in which they battled for the class 3
(1401cc-1600cc 16v) title. The championship is decided as
the best six results from eight rallies which are hosted,
throughout the year, from as far North as Inverness and as
far south as Newton Stewart. Seven of the eight rallies take
part on forest gravel roads “special stages” where
the cars are timed against the clock, departing the stage
start at one minute intervals. One round of the championship
(The Jim Clark Memorial Rally) is held on closed public roads
(tarmac stages).
The car chosen to compete in the championship is a wide bodied
Ford Puma group A front wheel drive car. The car is based
upon the very successful Ford Junior World Rally Championship
Puma kit car, but this particular car was home built by Fraser
and his friends. The car is powered by a 1600cc Ford Zetec-se
engine which delivers 170hp. The gearbox is a 5 speed Quaife
straight cut synchromesh box and employs a Quaife ATB differential.
The 2006 season started very badly for the Cansco team, with
the car breaking a drive shaft only 70 yards into the first
stage of the first rally of the season, the Snowman Rally.
So zero points on that event, but that was soon compensated
by a class win and 26th overall on the following Borders Counties
rally. The season continued with a class third on the Granite
City rally. The fourth rally was the Scottish Rally in Dumfries
and this was a day to forget with 4 punctures, a bent rear
axle, a damaged gear linkage, a broken flywheel and associated
clutch and engine damage. Not to mention a very fast excursion
into the trees from which we were extremely lucky to find
ourselves somehow bounced back onto the road (hence the bent
axle!!). The fifth event was an horrible day on Speyside with
torrential rain and thick fog to deal with. This ended happily
with a 2nd in class 3 and with no damage. A class win and
22nd overall on the following Park Systems stages at Newton
Stewart left the team only needing to finish on the final
rally of the season to secure the championship. This would
seem a simple task but following a major accident in the Puma
on this event the year before, there were some major nerves
around for the McRae stages rally in Perth for 2006. Happily
this year was accident free and despite only managing 4th
in class 3 and 54th overall on the day due to some electrical
problems, the team had done enough to secure the Scottish
Rally Championship Class 3 trophy for 2006. |
